Madhavi Shilpi

As a Nutritionist and Prediabetes Coach I am on a mission to help you reach your nutrition, health and weight management goals.

I have always been interested in food. Taste. Texture. Science. It’s happiness quotient. And more recently, food’s nutrition quotient: the place where food, body and mind intersect is of great fascination to me. Food has great power to nourish…but can sometimes also become the cause of ill health. The very pathways through which food can lead to dis-ease are the pathways one can reverse – through optimal food choices – to achieve a state of vibrant health.

I work with clients who struggle with metabolic disorders like weight management issues, gut problems, prediabetes and PCOS. Many come to me after unsuccessful attempts at ‘dieting’ — victims of the vast misinformation and slew of fad diets that the nutrition industry is saturated with. Following the unsustainable and overwhelming process of calorie-counting leaves them with unhealthy restrictions and a poor relationship with food. These formulae seldom work.

I believe that functional nutrition is not a one-size-fits-all science or art – people are different, not just by genetics or current health and goals, but also by how and what they like to eat. Food is hugely personal, and the only way an individual can make long-lasting changes in nutrition lifestyle is if they can maintain a connection to ‘their’ way of eating. I specialise in this – tailoring and tweaking my clients’ nutrition plans to suit both their health goals as well as their taste buds.

Simply speaking, one has to ‘eat good’ to ‘feel good’!

Oh, and if you’re wondering whether there’s more to me than nutrition and health… the answer is, yes!

I have worn many hats through the past three decades: interior designer, Mind Mapping instructor, wife, mother, caterer, writer, and the many other colourful hats that go with being a homemaker and entrepreneur in Mumbai. An intense interest in food, created long ago as I sat on my mum’s kitchen counter, helping her cook for our large family, has blossomed into a fulfilling career that allows me to combine the ‘art of cooking’ with the ‘science of nutrition’.

When I’m not elbow deep in Nutrition theory and practice, I enjoy reading, travelling, baking, farming, playing with my cats – and inching along on a book I am writing. My favourite workouts are walking and Pilates. And my favourite foods are bread, wine and cheese! France vs. Italy? The jury is still out!
